Last month I took a photo that has gotten some funny comments.

My son talked for a whole 3 minutes about the qualities he saw present in the picture (I had a happy moment with tears in my eyes)

Some said “wow”, and one said, “yes, it’s nearly too good to be true,” and finally one said – “is it a real photo?”

It is indeed.

And it really has the warm evening light. (The color of light can be warm even in minus degrees)

With any picture there is always a chance of two stories.

There is the story about how it was taken.

Then there is the one you really go after – having a story in the picture.

The picture was taken like this:

The heron had landed in a small alder tree and would not accept that there was another heron which intended to land in the tree, and therefore the heron displayed its strength and splendor.

The story in the picture is the part you always need some luck to get right. Also in this picture.

Because it started out like this – a nice picture in itself…

…then added: predicting things that can happen and therefore positioning the lense correctly so if things start bouncing around and……

…you just wait – in the evening light – and the light was so nice! Things were shining in the warm beautiful light while the February cold did terrible things to my feet on the ground….

….And that was how the story eventually got into the picture when the other heron came flying:

I’m a heron, I’m sitting here – nice, strong and in control of this area!

There is however this time a third story to this picture.

I have done it before. That was partly why I saw the chance.

It was summer back then in 2011 and it happened exactly the same way:

Now it sits there and so if now … ..

The white wagtail chose a fine direction to fly in – after sitting on the weathercock. It was photographed on Gotland, an island in the middle of the Baltic sea.

But the last time – in the picture with the heron – there has also been some technical changes occurring with the photographer.

I’ve got huge benefits from a personal development course. The most striking is that I have experienced that aesthetics is actually a tone, a vibration.

It is quite surreal to have a moment on that tone – stand and completely vibrate wildly at the tone and just boiling over with how beautiful something is. Such a nice experience!

And that is the last part to the story of the picture of the heron.
